Although my DVD recorder will record programmes from my new digital TV in the bedroom using the 'instant record' setting, it will not record using the timer setting. I've had to reconnet the old digibox to record programmes in this way. Do I need a special cable or something? I can't understand why it doesn't work as the TV/DVD recorder in my lounge works fine without a digibox. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

If you use the timer setting you may have to leave the TV on to get the signal from the TV to the recorder. If the recorder doesn't have a built in decoder (and it sounds like it doesn't) it has to get the decoded, Freeview signal from somewhere.
