tonyav ^^ it is a minimum of 30 days could be longer but I would have expected it is nearly dead now.

ROVs can do the job better than a manned vehicle since they can stay at working depth continuously, and just need a change of operator every few hours. Side scan sonar will eventually locate the plane.

Locating it is a lot easier than getting the 'black box' back to the surface though.
