I take it for granted that all other notable people awaiting trial on sex charges will be granted the same courtesy.

The judge, Mr Justice King, reminded jurors not to treat Evans's evidence differently "because he's come from the dock" or "because he's a member of parliament" as he finished summing up the evidence in the trial, including the accounts of the seven alleged victims and several witnesses for both the prosecution and defence.

He also instructed jurors to return only if they reached unanimous verdicts on each of the nine counts.

"You may have heard of majority verdicts; please put that out of your mind. I can only accept from you a verdict which is a unanimous verdict of all 12 of you on any particular charge," he said, before they were led out of a side door of courtroom one to begin their deliberations.

If he is found guilty, maybe he should resign his seat as an MP, as anything else would appear to be dishonourable.

and anyway wasnt Jeremy Thorpe indicted for attempted murder and not his true crime of receiving swollen goods ? - sorry that was a contemporary joke

I think he will be acquitted - after Maria Miller fiddled her returns without a criminal case so why cant Nigel fondle his interns ?
