If your printer is wireless and connected to your router that way (and, of course, that your laptop is also communicating with your router) then you simply need to install the relevant printer driver onto your laptop and it will communicate with the printer via the router.

If your printer isn't wireless then you need a USB lead to connect it to the laptop. At the laptop end it will be a standard USB connector but, depending upon the model, it might be a different connector at the printer end. (You will, of course, also need to install the printer driver onto your laptop).

For detailed information please tell us the printer model and whether you've got the software disc that came with it.
