Am going to Finland in July to compete in the Sulkava rowing marathon, and staying on for a couple of days afterwards with a friend Any tips of what to do in that area?

A short walk from the city but well worth it. Wonderful food and atmosphere at very reasonable prices. The Finns eat early so don't think you can wander out at 9pm and eat dinner. Helsinki bikes are also very good and free. You put in a Euro, take a bike then return it wherever there is a bike station and redeem your Euro (be aware there are no brakes). Great city to walk around
