"If Marjorie visited anyone on Saturday or Sunday, she would ring the doorbell. If she visited anyone on a weekday, she would knock on the door" - What is Marjorie up to?

Oh dear - I've just found out the actual answer:

The answer is, on weekdays Majorie worked as a gas leak detector. When checking houses for leaks, gas leak detectors never ring doorbells in case a spark causes an explosion!

Daft qn and answer IMO. In other words, even if she visits a friend during the week she doesn't ring the bell. Similarly, she could inadvertently cause an explosion if she visits a friend at the weekend!
