They're much bigger than most charity shops and they have some great, 'good as new' bargains. You can find your nearest shop by using the search facility here:

(Check the 'BHF Shops' box and then look for the ones in your local list with 'F & E' after the town name).

Join www.greasypalm.co.uk or www.mycashback.co.uk scrool down the list of furniture retailers they deal with most give a discount. My son needed a dining table and chairs for xmas found one from one of these retailers excellent quality and very cheap. He took a chance on the quality and was getting desperate but with the saving against the shop prices he could replace it about 3 times.
Do you have an auction house nearby? if they have a general sale you may be able to pick up a nearly new sofa, sometimes someone who lived alone only used one chair.
Apart from all the other suggestions why not peruse the FOR SALE ads in your local paper.
Just by going into Furniture Village, DFS etc etc they nearly always have stuff in their back rooms for sale at knockdown prices. i.e. Items ordered but not wanted, last years model and so on. If you start there at least you will be able to see what you are getting. Speak to the managers and see what sort of a deal they can do.
You could also go onto www.pricerunner.co.uk to see who has what.
