I appreciate its not very nice being followed around a shop and it does make you feel self concious, but I'd rather a shop assistant asking me if I needed help all the time then ignoring me - thats really annoying.

I dont think you are going to have much joy with your complaint as its impossible to prove anything, there were no accusations made by the shop assistant. At the end of the day she will just say she was doing her job.

Maybe its time to rise above it all and take the moral higher ground.

kazza..you are quite entitled to your opinion and i respect that..but you were not their she knew mr m was with me as the till is by the door and the way she spoke to me was very unpleasant..and she looked ridiculouse running up and down aisles..i dont mind being watched as i have nothing to hide..and i too have to pay higher prices due to shop lifters..i hate thieves....she will also remember as when she asked me if i wanted to buy a magazine at the till i didnt answer her and she started to become flustered also i had picked up some dummy boxes by accident and she had to go and get the proper ones..if i ever go in their again and i may i will have a few words to say to her before i start shopping as she wont treat me like that twice!! it was just a shock to me at the time as someone thinking i was going to steal something would never occur to me in my wildest dreams as i am so honest..i am not one of lifes doormats i answer to no one except myself..not even mr m !!

well i have recieved an e mail from h&b they are very sorry ..they have spoken to this assistant and she admits she was over zealouse..so she is going to recieve a written warning by the area manager..i shall definately go in again just to smirk at her....they did say they have had problems which is fair enough ..but at the end of the day she wasnt harassing anyone else..no one picks on me and gets away with it ..and if it ever happens again i shall complain again..
Question Author
and as an after thought i have also complained about the other assistant in the shop that was having a social conversation with her friend at the back of the shop..so thats told them..if any one reads this you should allways complain if you think you have been mistreated or have purchased shoddy goods..i was given a 1000 hoover once and free carpets to keep me quiet..and sainsburys have given me quite a lot of vouchers over the years..it doesnt pay to sit back and let people walk over you..
mullein3, don't you think that going in again 'just to smirk at her' is obscenely childish. Yes, she may have been being over zealous but she was just doing her job.

As a 16 year old, i get catergorised into being a trouble maker whos out to shoplift. Especially in places like boots and superdrug, i always get followed. I would never dream of stealing anything. People always assume that because i either want to impress someone, or because i dont have the money, im going to steal. This is very untrue...especially seeing as i spend the majority of my money on cosmetics, some of which are not at all cheap. I hate how people sterotype!!

b1 3thy..maybe it is a bit childish to do that..its just my sense of humour rearing its head..anyway one of the posts on here gave me the name of another company and they have allready sent me abrochure and they are a lot cheaper so i may give them a whirl..they are not the only shop on earth..i remember back when my daughter used to go to superdrug she is mixed race and this asian shop assistant in their kept following her..so i went down and as ked her if she had a problem and she was flustered and denied it..anyway she still kept doing it so we complained and they gave the daughter some vouchers..my daughter was only about 15 at the time and she liked looking round at the make up like all the young girls..at the end of the day if you cant look then you cant see what they have to sell...
well im glad its all resolved for you, but i still think it's a bit contradictory to accuse some one of leaping to huge wrong clonclusions while you are jumping to huge conclusions about them. I am aware my other answers seemed a little strong in tone.

kazza its okay...it may have been because of mr m or it may have been the giant size bag he was carrying ..what ever..they have cctv in the shop so they couldnt deny it..any way i have recieved another e mail from them today saying this situation will not occur again if i return to the shop..so thats that i guess..
hi mr m should have briefed it and made the shop assistant look stupid
