I had another shaky episode after walking into town and back 2 miles in hot sunshine . I took BM and it was 4.3 (2 hours after meal and 1 glipazide and 1 metformin)
I have really changed my diet and doing so well with low carbs my blood sugars seem to be between 5 and 7, 2 hours after eating and about 5 in the morning.
Being Easter Sunday I am really tempted to have 1 creme egg Ive not had any bad things for 2 weeks would it really effect my BM drastically. Before diet change was eating 4-5 bars a day. Is it ok to have an occassional treat

Yes, go on. Have they adjusted your medication yet? You were due to see the nurse. I still think you're on too much medication for your new diet.

Go on gordie......be a devil.....have an Easter Egg......not too big though. No it want effect your blood sugar "drastically."
Your blood sugar is low for a diabetic and exercise will drop it further. My dad used to keep a mars bar with him when doing anything active and eat it if he started feeling shaky.
4.3 is low but acceptable, as a diabetic myself I find my right arm shakes if my sugar is too low 4.3 would be to low for me, but you will work it out for yourself as you go on. Be careful with Gliclizide as thus can cause your blood sugar to drop low, excercise, Metformin and diet are the best, drop the Gliclizide as soon ad you can. Fresh orange juice is the quickest way to bring your blood sugar up
I keep an emergency kit with me - a mars bar and a bottle of lucozade for absolute emergencies, but if I start to feel my blood sugar starting to drop, I try to have something slow carb releasing (such as a sandwich) as otherwise you get a sugar high, which then drops quite quickly, leaving you feeling shaky. I don't like my BS being less than about 4.5, and feel best at about 6.5, but being on insulin has helped me manage my blood sugar much better than being on tablets. It's ok to have a treat now and then - you sound like you are doing really well on your new diet, keep it up!
