A Technical Question With A Moral Sidebar.

On Good Friday my Tesco mobile ceased to function - it would ring, but I couldn't receive calls. I took it in to my local Tesco, and the phone shop manager advised me that it was faulty and would have to go for repair, or - for the same charge - £7.50 a month, I could upgrade from my SIM-only contract to a two-year deal, and have a brand new phone, and keep my number.

I signed up, got my phone, and waited for the swap-over from my old phone to new.

Saturday night - my old phone suddenly works again, so I have no need of the new phone. I took it back, but because I hadn't kept the packaging, they would not accept it back.

So - it appears that my 'faulty' phone is OK, I am still paying the same money, and I have acquired a brand new Samsung mobile for nothing!

So mobile tech-heads - am I right in thinking that my old contract is still going, or even if it's the new one, I am paying no more money - so I have gained a new phone?

Morally, I feel uncomfortable, but I have attempted to return the phone without success, so do I just keep it?

Any advice / opinions welcome.

well sort of, but you can only use one phone at a time, so unless you get another sim, one phone is essentially useless.

You did not have surrender the old phone to get the new deal, so it is yours to do with whatever you like.
