Red Tape.....
33 Answers
I am shrouded in it. Mic is 65 in about 6 weeks. Knowing the trouble I had in getting my pension a couple of years ago I rang the DWP. Told them the circumstances and the guy said a supervisor would ring me back. They didn't so I rang again today. How can you get a person who can barely talk to answer questions over the phone. I was about to explode. I thought I was appointee, according to the DWP they have had no communication of this. Give me strength. Will this delay his pension I asked (through gritted teeth) and if so will it be backdated from his birthday. I have no information on this was the reply. Ye gods, do different departments not talk to each other. Rant over.

However get him home you did,as regards the State Pension, of course he will get it and even if delayed by red tape it will be backdated.
It is a hard road as I know, take care of yourself and pass on my love. ♥

I may have spoken out of turn, Jeza, and if so, I apologise. I was assuming Mic has mental capacity. If that is the case, this may be of use to you. It will mean that Mic doesn't have to deal with anyone other than you and all of officialdom must deal with you instead of Mic.

Ah, I see now how you are frightened of the costs.
It is still well worth you speaking to a local solicitor. Phone in the first instance and be prepared to print the forms off beforehand and, take them with you. Ask how much it would cost to certify the copy - I'm sure it won't be nearly as much as you fear.
