Hi, we have 3 small dogs and a 6 pack of Fibrospot flea treatment for them, the only problem is, the Fibrospot is for XL dogs, basically just meaning that there is more of the stuff in each pipette, so i was wondering how much Fibrospot in ml we need to put in our small syringes before putting it on our dogs?

Im no good at maths but i am thinking 1/3 of pipette for each dog?

Thanks

Like cats this is worked out based on weight of the animal in kilograms. It seems the range available is: 2-10 kg 10-20 kg 20-40 kg 40-60 kg So if you have the top one and your dogs are small Yorkie size then mathematically it should only be 1/6th or 1/4 at most. You should really ring and ask a vet. I expect the composition is not just more of the same thing the larger...

Thank you for your detailed answer Prudie, yes one is a Yorkshire terrier, one is a shitz zhu (Both of the larger sizes of the breed) and one is a 20 yr old Jack Russel cross Staff (still going strong apart from being blind and having the odd accident here and there) but i think we will ring our local vet as you recommend as it is better to be safe than sorry.

Many thanks

Kev
Good luck Kev, probably best to check, theses flea stuffs are too expensive to waste.
Good idea, prudie - I wouldn't guess, these things can be bad for the animal if given in too strong a dose.

Thanks Prudie, btw our Jack Russell is 21 not 20 as i first thought, she's a right toughie with the appetite of a horse and has never had Diarrhoea once, she's got a stomach of iron. Ha ha

Take care

Kev
I hope it works for you Kevo. Just looked it up and it doesn't seem to have a very good reputation.

Thanks Ladybirder, all same ingredients as Frontline so can't see any problem with it except we got it a lot cheaper because its near the end of its sell by date.

Rang vet and receptionist said to give the dogs 0.9ml each, so we have done so, and so far, no fits or dead dogs etc lol.

Will let you know in a couple of days if dogs have stopped scratching constantly, they seem to be full of flea's this year which is not like them, the Shitz zhu Max more so than the other two, he must taste nicer! lol
kev you say it has the same ingredients as FL and therein lies the problem. FL is just not working anymore in lots of areas of the country. My vet won't stock it at all since she had so many complaints of it not working.

I will have my fingers crossed for you that it does work.
Good Luck.

Ladybirder, this stuff has not really worked 100% here too, the dogs are still scratching, although not as much, so it look's as tho it has only partly wiped the little flea buggas out but they are obviously becoming immune to it! Grrrr :/
Sorry to hear that kev, what a waste of money. Get some Stronghold or Advocate from the vet. I know it's more expensive but it works.
Question Author
Thanks Ladybirder, i shall get one or the other when this stuff has worn off, if i had to give a percentage of how much this has worked, i would say 80% has the dogs are much improved but still scratching here and there.

Thanks for the advice

Kev x
I hate to bring bad news lev but you are aware aren't you that the fleas and eggs will be in your carpets and soft furnishings now and when they are ready they will hop back on to your dogs. You really need to get a spray from the vet and bomb your home with it to kill every last one. It really isn't easy getting rid of them once they're in situ. Sorry X
kev I can recommend this one if you go down the spraying the house route.
