anyone know if there may be a link between leukaemia and an enlarged spleen ?

An enlarged spleen can be symptomatic of several conditions. One of which can be leukaemia.
THERE IS A DEFINITE LINK. A blood test will show up leukemia, but be aware there are many types. CML, CLL . Also know that GOUT is also related. It is imperative that if you suffer GOUT, and have a tendency towards Leukemia, start treatment for it immediately. In CLL [ Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia] the white blood cells go sky high [ normal 4.5 ...high 97] and Gout being a type of Arthritis, promotes the white cells to combat the infection, thus raising the WBC higher still. A blood doctor will confirm this. No prizes for guessing why I know all this.
