Ppi Mistreatment At Hands Of Cmc
Some time ago my wife made a claim against MBNA via a CMC(Belmont Thornton) for PPI compensation on her credit card. Approximately 2 years ago she received a cheque from Belmont Thornton minus their 25% fee + VAT.
Last year I independently made a claim against MBNA and eventually following the intervention from the Financial Ombudsman, was successful.
I received a letter from The FO stating that Belmont Thornton had received payment on this account on the date my wife received her cheque.
As the matter is with her account they refused point blank to speak to me, so my wife sent a complaint asking the fee deducted be returned to me and they pursue the claim she originally asked them to. We later received a letter from Belmont Thornton saying in various guises that would in no way be held responsible and would not be returning any money.
My wife then contacted the Claims Management Regulator who told us that both Belmont Thornton and MBNA had acted irregularly and probably in breach of the Data Protection Act.
Has anybody had a similar experience? If so what would my next step be?
Thanks in advance
