I have used Frontline on my cats for years. today when I was brushing one of my cats I found a live flea, should I change treatment, if so what to, any recommendations would be appreciated.
Frontline isn't great in my opinion. Stronghold I believe is the best, covers fleas and some worms. Isn't cheap and is prescription only but is available at all vets as far as I'm aware. Our roaming Tom has been flea free ever since.
Yes, definitely. I was talking to a vet a while ago and he said that fleas are immune to Frontline in most of the western world. I use Advocate for cats and it`s much more effective from what I can see.
I use Advocate and find it faultless. The fact that you now seem to be able to buy frontline anywhere - supermarket, chemists, hairdressers (that's a joke) suggests that it's no longer chosen by vets.
They all work by essentially poisoning fleas that end up on your cat, the affect is quick but not instantaneous so depending on timing you might still find a flea alive.
Frontline used to be great, but i found it got less effective over the years. I tried Advantage last time- and it didn't seem to work properly. I'll get Advocate now.
