Ah Please Help :(

I have just made a booking on www.booking.com and I made a mistake. Anyhow what has happened is it is non refundable. I called them 10 minutes after the booking to try cancel but they can not refund me. I booked the wrong place. This is for a holiday in 2 weeks time and they said if I dont turn up they will charge my card. It is for 400 Pounds. Is there anything at all I can do :(
If I cancel my card will it make any difference? It is a lot of money and they dont care at all

I know this yes. It was a visa debit.. All booking.com do is pass over the card details so there should be no transaction have gone through before I cancelled the ard. I am not 100% sure though.

There is still chance the hotel lets me off however but booking.com said some hotels do not care and will charge anyone if the dont turn up or cancel.

Well if you have cancelled your card, anything not already charged to it will be declined even if they do have the correct information, so if they haven't already charged it, then they are stumped. They then obviously have the option to pursue you through the courts but a Dutch hotel isn't going to bother doing that in the UK so I'd relax if I were you:)

kvalidir I really hoe so. Thankyou that has made me feel a little bit better. I am in the wrong and I will have casued them a little inconvenience I know. I run a business and I have plenty of people who make mistakes wjhen buying from me but I always refund them even if sometimes I lose out a little monry myself as I beleive it is the right thing to do.

I have found somewhere close to where the conference is now so I will book that alrthough I am really hesitating now. Ah I have been through a lot this last few years I really but something so stupid has stressed me so much. Thanks for all the replies though and helping me through my flapping about in despair.
