I suspect that, given your recent history, you may feel a little reluctant to commit lots of energy and new ideas to jobs, when you feel that any day now, they'll be telling you 'thanks, but no thanks'. Certainly with supply work, there is a temporary nature to it, that might accentuate the attitude of 'get through the day' and 'no point making signficant changes or suggestions, cos I'm not going to be here next week/tomorrow anyway'. Perhaps you need to give the new employer (and yourself) a chance to show how well you can do.
You mention 'until your daughter was born' - is this more relevant than you have gone into - is there an underlying issue that you have not explained? I'm no psychologist, but on the basis that you mention it, perhaps it is more relevant that you state/think?
Also, as WendyS says, consider what kind of jobs you want to be doing - do you prefer to work on your own, in a group, outside, inside, paperwork, active, data, language etc. Perhaps you are focusing on the wrong types of jobs for some reason.
There's something right for all of us out there, if we take the time and make the effort to find it. GOOD LUCK!
