I have found an old unused virgin sim card and I have put it in a spare phone, but I can't get the phone to work with it. It can't receive incoming calls and it says it can only make emergency calls. The sim came with a card that says YOUR DEFAULT SECURITY IS SET AT 7890. YOUR PERSONAL UNBLOCKING KEY IS .... I have looked at the security settings on the phone and the pin lock etc is off. How do I get the phone to work with the sim? Thanks
If the account hasn't been used for a while it is considered unused and the number recovered for another. The companies can not afford to lose precious phone numbers for lost/unused SIMs.
If you wish you could contact Virgin to see if it is merely on the unused list rather than reallocated, but your best bet is most likely to sling it.
Thanks OG. I did try phoning Virgin this evening, but there was a message saying they had technical problems today, and to phone another day. I'll phone them another time, but you're probably right about it being too late to use it now.
Your spare must be locked to some other network. That is why it is not accepting the Virgin SIM card. You need to unlock your spare phone. You can unlock your phone safer and easier using unlock code. You can get the unlock code for your phone from classicunlocking.com Once you receive the unlock code you can visit http://www.mobileunlockguide.com/ to get the free unlocking instructions. Good luck.
