I'm not a fan of the JV programme as it is like Daily Mail radio.

However, there has been a truly harrowing account of abuse from a man who was at boarding school slime 30 odd years ago, it was very difficult to listen to and I admired his openness and honesty, and overall I thought JV handled the interview rather well.

Now the programme has moved into the next segment which is about how to cheat self service checkouts and has people phoning in with how to steal from supermarkets!!!

I think I'll go and potter in the garden and contemplate the juxtaposition.

I was going to reply, but as you said you were going to potter in the garden, I thought I'd stay schtumm :-)

What annoys me/irks me about these transmissions, is that 'they' go from a deep, thoughtful, thought-provoking subject to candy-floss air-heads the next

Surely the next segment should have been about a help-line subject/coming through 'it' type of discussion and help others?

It must be easy to steal from supermarkets. Half they time they don't even look.
Jeremy Vine is an idiot.

My favourite 'Vineism' was when he was interviewing an old Battle of Britain pilot who had been shot down while flying Spitfires .

Vine asked him what it was like to use an ejector seat?
Surely it must be easy to steal at the self-service check-outs.
I'm not tempted thank you very much.

A couple of years ago the 'unexpected item' voice came on, first time I'd used one and put my purse in the bagging area. Supervisor was over as quick as her broom-stick would allow!
Zeuhl, he, the Vine, should do his own research and not rely on interns :-)

You have to bear in mind that JV is a renowned expert in everything, in JV's opinion at any rate, which is why he spends 50% of his time sounding bewildered, although to be fair, he did do that interview quite well.
I thought this post was about Jeremy Kyle - ooops !
^

He did Baldric, I heard it and you're right.

I mostly dread him having some sort of technical expert on who explains something that most of the audience will understand, then Vine replays what he thinks he's just heard and demonstrates that he hasn't got a clue.
once on Radio five live breakfast, t hey had an article about gestational diabetes and how undetected it can kill babies because they grow so large, and they had a very emotonal interview with a mum and dad who had lost their baby this way. The very next article was some football story about how the englad team were complaining about something or other and nicky campbell made a comment about them being "big babies"!
