This cartoon depiction of a father's descent into dementia and his death appears in today's Daily Mail http://tinyurl.com/qe87yll

My parents died at the ages of 58 (mum) and 75 (dad) and were both lucky enough to be spared the horror of losing their mind whilst there body chugged on.

I hope that nobody is upset by this post - my judgement can be a tad dodgy..... thereby lied another story of the brain giving up before the body.

Not the cartoon...i meant speaking as if on behalf of someone else. What gets to me often, is the pity. We had a cleaner come in to the day centre i was running. She looked around at everyone and said, "oh, it's such a shame!". I had to walk away. Presuming to know what is going through their mind isn't right and comes from the relative's feelings- not the affected person. Sorry.
No need to be sorry, pixie. It's a lack of understanding sometimes and an inability to express themselves.....
But they have displayed their ability to express themselves, just not sharing others' opinions necessarily.
the cleaner, choux, I was talking about that person....
I gathered that. My point was that everyone is entitled to their opinion and freedom to express it, right or wrong.
Fair enough....I just don't like the negativity to them implied in the statement by the cleaner.....
That's what i meant, dt. I found it quite insulting to them.
