A lovely little bird just appeared in the hedge across the lane. We've been trying to identify it for the brief time it was there. Is it possible that, here is North Wales, we've just seen a firecrest? The hedge mentioned is a veritable hive of bird activity every year. This afternoon we've seen the bullfinch there.
Yes, I looked at that site Chris; I started to doubt it was a firecrest when I read about the habitat, but I could have sworn I saw a little bit of red; but I'm sure you're correct. Thank you.
They are regular visitors to RSPB Conwy, horseshoes, which is just a few miles from Bangor.
Rowan and myself were there a couple of Years ago when the Firecrests were around, but unfortunately missed seeing them. They were spotted by some of the Wardens and other Bird enthusiasts.
Goldcrests are more common, but you may well have a Firecrest in your Garden if you take a closer look next time you spot it !!
