I have some young tomato plants in my greenhouse and this morning found a snail attached to the bottom of one (assume having a snack!). I've put a line of salt around the base of the grow bags the plants are in. Is this enough to prevent future attacks? Thanks.

It'll help until it dissolves or blows away, I assume you didn't put it on the soil?
I don't use slug pellets myself but I was interested to hear a tip on GQT.

Rather than scattering slug pellets around your plants set up a spot where slugs and snails are likely to congregate, i.e. dark and damp, a upturned plant pot saucer or slate slightly lifted off the ground and sprinkle the pellets in there. It protects other wildlife from ingesting the poison and while reducing the amount of pellets increases their efficacy.
I have heard that surrounding plants with broken eggshells (sharp edges up) discourages snails and slugs. They don't like crawling over anything sharp, it seems.

Frank - No the salt is spread outside and around the base of the grow bags.
Eccles - Will try that if the salt and eggshells (thanks bookbinder) does not work.
Salt should detract them. I have one particularly bad patch of garden that has heaps of snails. I put the pellets under little cloches which I make from the small icecream tubs. I have been told that the blue pellets that I use won't loosen the dog etc. but I don't like to take chances.
A better environmentally friendly solution is a torch and a large boot at 10pm every evening.
I plant a couple of marigolds in the front of mine. Has always worked for me . Let me know. All the best
