Cheap Ink for Printers

I have an HP Deskjet 940C that uses a million pounds of ink a week. Will this model take the ink that you can syringe into the cartridges? I saw an inkjet syringe kit for only �7.99, and wondered if these things actually work properly....any guidance?

We have an Epson C62 printer & the cost of ink cartidges for that are astronomical! We now use 'Cartridge World' ink cartridges at half the price (you just take your old cartridges in for replacement), so you could give them a try. I'd be very interested to know if the 'inkjet syringe kit @ £7.99 is a success, so keep in touch if it is!

My brother has used the syringe method on old cartridges and it does work, but can be very messy. It won't work, I think, on the new type of cartridges with a chip in them, like the C62 (which I also have). However, if you shop around, or look in the magazines, you can usually find much cheaper cartridges than the originals (without giving the old ones). Jettec do Epson C62 for less than half the Epson price. Unfortunately, I think HP is one of the harder printers to find cheap replacements for.

I have an epson 740 and my ink cartridges read empty. However, when I went to replace them, I noticed that they seemed to be quite heavy for what was supposedly an empty cartridge. Seeing as tho I was going to bin them, I poked about with a skewer, took the metalic strip pierced it from above and would you believe it...they still in there working? If only I'd known three years ago!!!!

It's worth looking on ebay, although I can't vouch for your particular cartridge. I picked up my last replacement for less than half the retail price, and it was the same one, unopened and it works fine!!

It is definitely worth shopping around, I found a cash & carry type warehouse place in Glasgow who sell copy cartridges ( inkrite ) for all makes and models dirt cheap and they work very well. I have a Epson C62 and it was �2.50 for black and �3.95 for colour (plus vat). I have tried the syringe type kits before and found the ink quality very poor, it would give very fuzzy print quality. P.S the cash and carry don't do mail order, before you all ask!

UPDATE:- Just checked out Inkrite's web site WWW.inkrite.co.uk and there online shop prices are about twice that of the cash & cary but still way cheaper than Epson :-)

UPDATE - I've just checked out inkrite site and they don't sell hp officejet d135 cartridges.(Which is what I've got) although PC World sells them for CLR �25,Black �21, which I think is pretty reasonable.
