It is still probably nothing to worry about - but sometimes can be a symptom of something else
Scarlett, I sympathise with you, it must be horrible to have that constant noise in your ears. Can I suggest EFT? If you haven't come across it, it's a simple treatment you can do yourself and it can help to alleviate many ailments. I'm not going to vouch for it, just passing on what I've read. On the few occasions I've tried it I've only been partly convinced it's been of some use to me, but that doesn't mean much really, that's just one person, and one ailment. There is however a wealth of evidence, in the form of countless case histories, that it can be very helpful to many people, with various ailments.
Take a look here at the EFT homepage, and familiarise yourself with it. If you'd like to read a few case histories relating to tinnitus, read this this and this.
I'm sure there are lots more, these are a few I came across with a quick search.
Briefly, EFT is an amalgam of acupressure (like acupuncture, but no needles!) and mentally tuning into the physical problem and the underlying causes of it. It can be done in just a few minutes, and repeated use can often help. If you read about it and try it, don't give up if it doesn't seem to work right away - it would be amazing if it did really, wouldn't it. I only caution against that because in some instances it can bring about really fast results, and it's unfair to expect it to do that with everything. If it just gave you temporary relief, to some extent, that would be a result, I think you'll agree.
I hope you find it works for you. Good luck!
