I am looking for an on-line, free radio station that broadcasts plays, stories or audio books. Does such a thing exist. I would like something interesting to listen to when I am ironing, or suchlike. Any ideas?

Is comedy of any interest to you? ROK Classic Radio has a 24-hour British Comedy Channel (Hancock, Navy Lark, Men From the Ministry, etc). There's also the All Time Gold channel (with some more British comedy, plus US radio plays, etc), together with the American Comedy Channel (Bob Hope, Jack Benny, etc), the Crime and Suspense Channel (Sherlock Holmes, Dragnet, Sam Spade etc) and the Science Fiction and Supernatural Channel (Journey into Space, CBS Mystery Theater, Strange Tales, etc). It's where I do most of my listening!

Project Gutenberg do audio readings of books. It may not be the same person reading all parts - I listened to Treasure Island and had male, female, American and Australian voices!

:-) On-line tends to imply computer not DAB radio, Calibax.

Sorry can't really help the OP but do say there are numerous places one can find sorted lists of Net radio stations to choose from. I even have a mobile app that gives me more stations than I could listen to, but I have only ever tuned in to a handful, none of which matches your brief. Why not check out blind related web sites. They may well have audio book broadcast links I'd have thought.

Thank you all for your suggestions. I do indeed listen to R4 and R4E, I also listen to R3, R2 and Classic FM. Sometimes there just does not seem to be anything on that I want to listen to. Sometimes there are very similar progs on every station, or it seems to be. If I am concentrating on a task then I miss most of a film if I am watching t v. I have tried tune in radio but only found music but it was 50's so that was very promising. I have printed off the answers and I shall try them all. Thank you.
