Fencing Prices
5 Answers
I need a bit of fencing work done. I could ask a friend but he can only do weekends and I`m not here most weekends so I need to get quotes. I need two 5" vertical lap panels at the end of the garden. There are concrete posts there already. Also, some sort of boarding along the bottom. I need another 5" panel by the house. The post was set in concrete but is leaning so the concrete needs breaking up and the post resetting. So - 3 panels, some boarding and a reset post. I know the price for labour varies around the country but does anyone know what a reasonable quote would be? Yesterday a guy quoted me £365 and I thought "You`re having a laugh, mate".

A couple of years ago, I paid £35 for resetting a loose concrete post. A tree branch had grown against it, and pushed it out of line.
I know these jobs aren't exactly what you're going to have done, but, since nobody else had answered, I thought that they might give you something to work on.

Hi 237 ... I think the panels are around £15-£20 each.
Say a half-day's work (anything from £60 to £100)
I've just come from giving an opinion on some roof repairs for someone. One team quoted £5,000..... for approx £1,000 worth of work.
That was for a woman too. I'm afraid plenty of them in my job try it on, especially on attractive cabin crew ;o)))

"especially on attractive cabin crew" That must be someone else then LOL
Thanks for the replies. I thought he was trying it on. My hairdresser is trying to track down some Polish people who did her friend`s fences but is not having much luck. One guy came over nearly three weeks ago. I wasn`t here so I arranged for my mother to stagger around here on her sticks to see him in. He was charm itself, apparently. Off he went with a promise to put the quote in the post. That`s the last I ever heard of him. They don`t want the small jobs it seems. I might have to rope my friend in again - he`ll do anything for a roast dinner and a box of Budweiser.
