Internet explorer

Over the past couple of days IE is taking up to a minute or more to load, whereas it always came up instantly, the macnine is newish and there is tons of disk space. I did a free spyware thingy and also a defragment, (taken the past two hours!) and still no difference. Any ideas most welcome. Thanks.

You said that you scanned your computer for spyware. But you should also scan for adware and viruses. I recommend these as they are free I think or at least for the trial:

AVG Anti-virus -

Adware (for adware) - http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/

Finally, I would just like to add that you don't need to use Internet Explorer. I recommend Flock:
