These daft conspiracy theories just waste everyone's time.
If I can be bothered I'll dredge up the criminal CVs of Dennis Pushilin and some of the other bandits currently trying to take over Donetsk and Luhansk while the vast majority of the ordinary people want nothing to do with them.
Pushilin has just declared himself "supreme commander" of the Donetsk region, no nonsense about any sort of election there of course.

They were a bunch of thieves. Most of them not elected at all. Ukraine was (still is really) run by oligarchs. Yanukovych may have been elected but none of the people he gathered round him to run the country were. They were members of his family shamelessly enriching themselves at the country's expense.
