Yep, very 'jolly'.... gives every tit who hasn't ridden a bike in years, has no idea about road safety (or more likely 'pavement' safety), probably not much idea where they're going, no cycle helmet and highly likely to be running late the opportunity to just where they're going without a thought for others. Brilliant bloody scheme.
Might do this, though ... rent a Boris Bike for 24 hours, put it in a car, drive it the south of France, ride it up Mont Ventoux, and then get it back and redocked within 24 hours ...
the real challenge would be to do this with the bf and see how many physical, all body and mind-busting personal 'mountains' one could climb in that time......
I have to agree with CD on this one I'm afraid JJ. I don't like cyclists. As a pedestrian and as a driver. I have nearly been run over by cyclists at traffic lights many times. I have also nearly crashed into cyclists turning right into a road where a driver has given me way but the cyclist has just carried on. Don't know if its just Croydon this happens in!
I'll go with the Its a brilliant scheme theory, looking at the way these scheme work on the continent its a brilliant way of doing things. Give it time more people will use and appreciate it.... good on ya JJ for trying it.... ( the scheme in Toulouse is brilliant)
Should have read more before posting...we are going through a cluture change regarding cycling in the UK. No issue for me I ride one of my collection of bikes every time I get the chance. The country needs educating about cycling to make it work and it'll help us all hugely. It's the healthiest way to get around
