The walls around my bath have random tiles which are awful. They are in perfect condition but the pattern is a pink background with a brown daffodil !!! As the main wall is a stud wall they haved professionally tiled over tiles. I just want to cover the 'nasties... As the tiles get wet is it possible to paint them? Or I'd prefer to stick glass mosaic tiles just on the nasties... will they dop off or is there some kind of wonder adhesive I could use?
Many thanks

You could tile over them by sandpapering over the 'nasties' and then tiling over them but you would end up with the new tiles raised. you can buy grout from B&Q which is designed for tiling over tiles.

You can buy tile paint but its difficult to get a smooth finish, also you might have to buy a strong colour to cover them.

Many thanks philandlil
I'm not worried about the tiles being raised as it will only be a little bit. I'm concerned if the water will eventually 'lever' the raised tiles off

Have a look in some of the large DIY stores, you can buy Transfers to stick on tiles, not very expensive, good luck.

Time to get the old tiles off and start anew.

Then you can have exactly what you want, confident that it is a 'proper job' and will last.

Glass mosaic tiles aren't a good look on a solid wall though. Who wants to look at what's underneath?

Unless I've misunderstood.

In an ideal world I'd agree with you ethel but it's a stud wall which is why they tiled over tiles. If I try to take them down that will take the wall down too.
The tiles I'm looking at are quite tiny and come attached to a sort of net backing so no problem about the wall showing through
Thank you ethel

If you're in West Wales, I'll do the lot for 20 per square metre... you supply the tiles..
if you can get the tiles dry for a few hours, tile paint is totally waterproof once dried.

Almost worth moving at that price naz_nomad but unfortunatly I'm in the south east. Thank you x

Thanks plant boy I was seriously considering the paint idea but a local painter/decorator advised it is VERY difficult to get a smooth even finish and it seems silly to make it worse... which I invariably would !!! I'm going to have a go with sticking mosaic tiles over the nasties.... stand by for questions on how to replace a stud wall demolished in a fit of temper

Many thanks everyone
