I have two glasses jammed together and can't get them apart by tapping them if anything that made it worse, any suggestions?

Try running them under cold water and gently try to move them.
Run under a cold tap?
Very hot water in bowl - stand them so that the bottom one is immersed almost to the top, but the top one is dry (you may have to weight them down with something).

Give it ten minutes and then submerge both and wiggle ... the glasses that is.
So who was silly enough to stack them in the first place then? (When I've managed bars I've threatened death to anyone who dared to stack glasses!) ;-)

Put the bottom one in a pan of hot water and put cold water in the upper one.

They sound like recipes for crackage
Not really, unless they are so thin you wouldn't wash them up in hot water?
...actually, it's THICKER glass that's likely to crack in very hot water...not thin.
Stand corrected then, unless they are so thick you wouldn't wash them in hot water.

They are actually quite thick glass, pretty heavy beasts.
