free downloadable games for vista?

Does anyone have any links for any games that I can download to my PC for playing?
I am very tired of Freecell and want some other card games or anything interesting

Most of the sites I have tried want you to download something else in return for the game, or my Firewall and Virus checker throw out some of the things that I have tried to download so I am very wary of simply doing an online search.

Any suggestions would be most welcome

Download.com offers 2680 free Vista-compatible downloads in their 'Games' category. Inevitably, there will be plenty of rubbish but there must also be some good 'uns in there somewhere. (Use the filters on the right of the page to select your preferred type of game and then look at the star ratings and read the reviews):

Good afternoon, I suggest you have a look at www.tigsource.com

On the right hand side 2 3rds of the way down is a list by genre - you may find some interesting games there.

The Independent Gaming Source is a superb site full of bright & enthusiastic game makers - mostly making games in their bedrooms. 90% of them are completely free.

games for windows clinet has a pretty cool game called Tinker for free right now. Best of all if you have an xbox 360 the game earns you achievement's. :)
