Should the US coast guard abandon their search for the crew of the missing Cheeki Rafiki yacht after only one week, when the search for the Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 missing for almost 3 moths is still taking place?

The search for the crew of the missing yacht is a humanitarian one. The lost plane needs to be found to try and discover what caused it to crash.
You can't compare one with the other.

Alas I think you may be right here divebuddy. What a pity that the crew of the Cheeki Rafiki didn't equip their boat a little better, for such a long and dangerous journey.
The searchers have had a go. It's real needle in haystack stuff and if it sunk then there is likely to be no trace. Bodies would most probably have been eaten anyway by now.

Yes I can see your points, but very sad all the same for the families and friends of those lost at sea.
Very tragic for all those connected. I haven't really heard how this happened - did they not have mobiles, radio a mayday etc etc? like MH370, were there no GPS signals to trace?
