this may sound stupid coming from someone who doesn't vote but who ever is in be it tory or labour never seems to put this country 1st quite happy to throw money at any other country they want to look after the people who bloody voted them in,in the 1st place soona we get out of the EU for me the better but i wont hold my breath tho

One of the main reasons that the average per capita income in the UK is comparatively low is because there are huge numbers of people either not working at all or working part time for extremely low wages. The plain fact is that the UK does not generate enough wealth to sustain an above average lifestyle for all the people who are here. In short, there are too many people here (which is one of the main reasons why there is a housing shortage, a healthcare crisis and a shortage of suitable education places - see some of may answers on these topics).
But that’s not a very palatable truth, it seems.

Cornwall`s been poverty stricken for years. The salaries are low and like Devon, part time jobs vacancies prevail. The house prices have gone through the roof thanks to re-locators from richer areas and the holiday home culture. People have no chance of getting their own roof over their heads and are stricken with paying rent for life. You have to drive miles to get anywhere which means paying a fortune in petrol and needing to replace your car more often. Although labour charges are lower in the SW, you are forever having to maintain the outside of the property due to the effects of the incliment weather and the salt. Traditional trades have diminished due to EU quotas as well. So it`s not news really - it`s what people in the South West have known for years.
