Telegraph Cryptic. I've won runner up on Saturday twice, Sunday once, but the most recent was about five years ago.
GK are more difficult because if you don't know the answer you don't know the answer, with a cryptic you can work it out by solving the anagram etc. - but it takes a few months to get to know a new complier!
Good question.

I much prefer cryptic crosswords. Used to send them in and won 25 book token about 12 or 15 years ago. Stopped sending them in as postage cost more than the winnings. I now only post in entries to those that have worthwhile prizes on offer (Who uses a fountain pen these days?) but still haven't won again.
For me, the enjoyment is in solving the puzzle - once completed, I lose interest.
I also enjoy helping others to solve puzzles (if they provide sufficient information to do so)
I never start solving the puzzle in my own paper until I go to bed so I usually avoid looking at posts of the current day's Daily Telegraph cryptic if any replies are showing.
