When I was in employment (now retired) I always turned the washing machine on when I left for work. After retirement I turned it on when going out shopping etc.
A couple of months ago the machine made a loud bang, on investigating the noise the kitchen was full of black smoke yet the machine was still working.
I dread to think what could have happened had I not been there. So ABers think about what you allow to run while you are out.
As we have never made a point of not leaving electrical appliances running when we are out of the house if anything untoward was to happen I wouldn't blame myself or himself.
Caran, I might be inclined to agree with them if it wasn't for the Economy 7 aspect. It seems very unfair, seeing that the electricity board encourage you to use the leccy overnight, when most folk are in bed.
Dryers can be hazardous if they aren't ventilated. You can get a build up of lint under the machine and this gets very dry and can be combustible. They need to be vented out a window or something.
I think I recall reading recently about deaths caused by a faulty phone charger left on overnight and catching fire. Leaving things on charge is something I'd bet we all do.
Thank you ducksie for posting the link re Beko. I have one of the fridge freezers mentioned and am now waiting a call back from one of their engineers. I would not have known otherwise.
