Rover 211 sump

hi, i have a rusty sump on my 211 and its leaking a lot. i am having difficulty finding a scrapped one of these to get a sump from. somebody has told me that is has the same engine as one of the metros, is this true? and if so, which one? my rover is the 211 I 8v 1120cc. also, someone else has said that i could weld a patch over it, but someone else said it wont work, again, if you have any ideas, please let me know.

Are you sure it is not just a gasket leaking, unusual to rust unless damaged? You will need to remove it to repair. It will probably need to be brazed or gas welded to get a good leakproof repair and if it is only one hole or so you could drill it and fit a nut, bolt and suitable washers.

thanks, it definitely is rusted at the bottom, it does appear that it has hit somehing at some point hence the rusting. thanks again for your help
u would b better off just buying a new sump, save alot of hassle and u know itll prob last u the rest of the life of the car sumps around 60 to 80 pounds (try a motor factor) but watch the sump bolts they can sieze and snap
