As we reach the 70th anniversary of D Day I would ask you all to give a thought to the 1000's of allied troops, many of them paying the ultimate price, who fought on those beaches in Northern France to allow us to live today with the freedom we may not be enjoying had the outcome been different.

I also feel honoured to have been born on this day 70 years ago.

Happy birthday, Blue Toffee. A lovely tribute. Thank you.
Many Happy Returns Blue Toffee, enjoy your day. I expect a lot of us are already sparing a thought for those who took part in D-day and let's not forget the thousands of French civilians who also died as a direct result.
A very happy birthday to you, BT - my granddad was on the beaches on that day, unlike a hell of a lot of servicemen and women, he came home to his family alive and well.
happy birthday blue. what a reason to remember your special day.
Happy birthday BlueToffee, I will spare a thought for them all. They were very brave in difficult circumstances.
