Last September I gave up working as a Team Leader in the Customer Service industry after 17 years (I am now 35). The reason I did this was to fulfil my dream of becoming a nurse. After 6 months at university I am passing all my exams but am not really enjoying my career choice as much as I thought I would. If I decide to give up my course up and look for another job, how do I update my CV? Should I put the university time on this? Does it put me in a bad light to a prospective employer (ie. would they consider me someone who gives up easily?) to say that I no longer wanted to pursue this career? Or should I lie and say I have been travelling?

Will you be accredited with something equivalent to a Cert HE/HNC if you leave uni at the end of your first year? I would look into that possibility then you would have something concrete to put on your CV. It shows application that you finished the year and didn't just 'drop out'.

I'm not sure if it's still the case but if you do complete your year, you should be awarded credits. They may go towards another degree course, should you change courses before the second year.

That's what I would do and if an employer asks about it, just say that the course wasn't what you expected and now you are looking for a new and interesting career.

Good Luck!
