Is Java Safe ?

I keep getting, when using AB, a warning notice that I should install a Java update. This happens when I'm actually typing a post . Is it safe to install it ?
Or would it be better to uninstall Java completely as I don't use it but maybe it is used by the PC without me being aware of it .

It's a fake and should be completely ignored. Java can be unsafe at the best of times, but the notice which you have had is lethal. Sorry, but I feel it is important for me to shout......STAY WELL AWARE FROM IT.

I've had a look and there had been two ' official ' automatic updates last year
2013 totaling 250 Mg and you are right no updates from Java are available or recommended . I could however uninstall them and save a chunk of memory. Apart from that have I anything to gain by doing so ? Also how can I stop those pop ups ?

The pop-ups are generated by malware on your computer. The free version of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (which will get rid of it) can be downloaded from here:

When installing it, take care to de-select the option to install a free trial of the Premium version. Use the 'quick scan' option to run it but don't be surprised if such a scan still takes over half an hour. When the program reports that it's found malware, click the button to view the results, ensure that there's a tick alongside everything found and click the button to remove it. (If there's a really long list of stuff found you don't have to tick each item individually. Just right-click on the first item and look for 'Check all'. Then click the button to get rid of it all)
