I dont ususally do diets, just watch what I eat.
But I decided to do a very strict diet for a month, just to see what the effects would be. I am eating almost no carbs, only essential fats and high protein. I am still regularly exercising and going to work every day as normal. But, day 4 of the diet and I feel tired, shaky, not myself at all. I am not unwell so the only thing I can think is that its the diet. I have lost 4 pounds in 3 days, so it is having an effect. But I cant be bothered feeling like this.
Any similar experiences?
If you give up carbs,you need to expect what is known as "carb flu" during the first week. Its the body readjusting from burning carbs to fat burning. You really should still be eating some carbs in the form of lots of leafy green veg,and also drink lots of water. If you feel hungry,eat something like yogurt or a hard boiled egg. Those 4 pounds will be water weight...

But I have put on about a stone in the last few months and just wondered what the effects of a strict diet would be. I was planning to stick at it for a month or so, may make some changes
The person who wrote the diet explained that initial weight loss may be substantial but then the body will get used to the knew regime and weight loss will be between 1-3 pounds per week depending on the individual.
I was recently diagnosed with gallstones (boy the pain was terrible) anyway, I was told to stay off Beef, I don't eat Pork or Lamb just Chicken, Turkey and fish. I have cut out butter, cheese and cream. The only fat I have is olive oil, rice bran oil and rapeseed oil (I use that for roasted veggies etc) and I am loosing weight gradually and feel so healthy. I have tried diets in the past and the weight has come back but hopefully this time it will stay off. I do have a treat at the weekends.

Everyone still seems to think that eat less/do more is the solution,yet research done in the past few years is demonstrating that a lower carb/higher fat diet results in a more sustainable weight loss,and none of the hunger of traditional low calorie diets.
Leafy green veg - cabbage, kale, purple sprouting, lettuce - are very low in carbs.
High carb vegs are carrots, parsnips, swede, yams, beets, peas, corn, sweet potatoes, squash such as butternut squash.
Sounds too severe. Why not just halve the carbs you usually eat and only eat them for brek and lunch? Have one protein evening meal- that way your tiredness will coincide with going to bed! You will lose weight quickly at first but this is just what happens in the first few days. Then it will slow right down- 1 or 2lbs per week really is fast enough.
