Sonic Boom

I've just heard an almighty bang, followed by aircraft engine noise from directly overhead (in Cambridgeshire). The house shook and I'm still shaking. Anyone else witnessed this type of thing before?

No sonic booms here (Cheshire), but for three days now there has been a low flying jet passing over and the noise is horrendous, everybody rushed out to look. It comes over twice a day and is flying quite low. Nobody knows where its from or where its going !

Probably something to do with the D Day landing commemoration in France. I think I read that somewhere around 2pm some planes were taking off from Cambridge area to do a flypast.
