/// Mr Gove told journalists at a lunch that the person responsible for failing to detect the Trojan Horse plot is Charles Farr, the former intelligence chief who now runs the Office for Security and Counter-Terrorism in the Home Office. ///
/// According to Mr Gove, Mr Farr’s response to this Islamic extremism has been neutered by his fear of being accused of ‘Islamophobia’ – the same reason the last Labour Government did nothing to tackle it. In essence, the Home Office has allowed a pernicious and medieval strand of Islamism to be imported into Britain from Pakistan – and we are reaping the

It now seems that Fiona Cunningham, the Home secretary's adviser who has been forced to resign is the girlfriend of Mr Charles Farr.

Lost in all the witch hunting is the fact that the schools academic results have improved dramatically.

// Sir Michael also criticised Birmingham City Council for its "failure to support schools in their efforts to keep pupils safe from the risk of extremism". //
It is a bit rich, taking the schools out of local authority control, and then blaming them when the private company screws up.
I assumed OFSTED remit was primarily concerned with Educational standards. It seems these schools are maintaining and often have good results, but are being downgraded for non educational reasons.
Presumably, when these schools were made into free schools and Academies, there must have been some promise to run them in a certain way. Either the company hasn't lived up to its side of the bargain, or the the department in their haste to wrestle these schools away from the Local Authority, did not properly stipulate what was required.
