Digital Projector Causing Problems With Presentations

I use a digital projector and powerpoint regularly. Recently - last two weeks - when the projector is connected, transitions / animations will not happen unless I individually click the screen, then press a cursor arrow. Until now the two have worked fine ie I can work the presentation using forward / back cursor arrows.
Anyone any ideas on this? It kind of doubles the focus I have to give to the soddin machine rather than the teaching.

....and solved my own question again.
Looks like the lappie's been trying to update itself in areas with no internet, got it's knickers in a knot and sulked.
