Entering an intersection before it can be completely crossed blocks the flow of traffic (which can be why the intersection your at may not be free).

educate me

Because they are all in there own little selfish worlds and must get that extra 10 yards further, and, despite the queue being three miles long, there being three sets of traffic lights and one set of roadworks ahead, by parking your vehicle bang in the middle of a yellow box junction and preventing traffic that only wants to cross your queue from moving - you will arrive at your destination a whole three milli-seconds earlier.

Don't worry, you'll soon be out of the trafifc and onto the motorway, where you can drive in the midle lane, despite there being just one lorry about three miles in the distance on the inside lane. (what you call the 'slow lane' - but since you don't consider yourself 'slow ', you never use it, despite it being empty and the traffic piling up in lane three trying to overtake you.)

Of course, when you do have to use the 'fast lane'. remember just to pull out into it, (despite there being a car rapidly approaching you in that lane and a huge gap behind it). Please don't feel that there's any need for indicators or checking mirrors or any of that old rubbish - just pull out whenever you want. Then proceed to overtake at about an extra 1mph above the speed of the car you are passing. Additionally, to ensure you avoid cutting him up - don't pull back into your middle-lane 'home' until at least five miles later.

my god yes this is one of my pet hates!!! grrr. and Brachipod....thanks for your little exlposion it saved me writing it all out! With you on each one!!
.....yes and when you get to a roundabout you are not allowed to look in advance of getting there, you must first do an emergency stop at the give way line even if there is nothing comming, then you can look. When you finally go you must go around the outside lane cutting off all the exits until you get the one you want. Of course you are not allowed to signal any of this.
i assume all these comments apply to women drivers...ooops sorrrryyy!

Brachipod I salute you. Cheers for all your answers. By the way tali122, I am a woman. Hope you're not a coffin dodger in a crap rover (Ever heard of fourth gear?)
One of the best answer ever brachiopod.
Magnificent.
sithlord , women are fine drivers- apart from , strangely, once a month when they get rather moody and aggressive i find

I've got to disagree Tali122. I've just looked at the calender and I think that you're opinion is totally F-----G UNFOUNDED, YOU COMPLETE F-----G W---A.. AAAAARRGHH!!! MEN JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND!!!

Sorry, Sithlord, but I've got to disagree with the implied statement within your question. You suggest that the majority of drivers don't know the correct use of box junctions. This is clearly WRONG!

I'm certain that 99% of drivers do KNOW the correct use of box junctions. Unfortunately, 98% of them choose to ignore what they know - which just makes it all the more annoying!

Chris
actually sithlord , rather strangely ,my apparent chauvanism has some advantages paradoxically for women drivers- if a male motorist makes a mistake /drives badly i get angry, if its a female i make allowances and accept it stoically and it doesn't bother me

the reason is.....99% of all drivers remove their brain and shove it up their ar*e when getting behind the wheel. their good manners get put in the glove box and their abillity to judge anything goes straight out the window.

would you leap in front of some one walking past you? would you block some one exiting a doorway that you are wanting to go through? no? then why be so selfish when in a car?

when 'di*k for brains' is zooming around near me i allow him to pass and hopefully he will have his accident nowhere near me.

ps i stop at zebra crossings.

& i own a 150mph sports bike so i'm not a coffin dodger! (i know many bikers are as bad before you all complain )

The highway code states that you may enter the box and wait when you want to turn right, and are only stopped from doing so by oncoming traffic, or by other behicles waiting to turn right.
And NOT when you are going straight over a roundabout that has a pedestrian crossing just after it. You can see if the lights are red before you get onto the roundabout, you don't need to stop on the roundabout and prevent me from turning right at the same roundabout EVERY night on the way home from work!!!
