My Mil Has Alzhiemers And Bil Lives

at home with her. A few years ago BIL owed a lot of money so went on IVA agreement. He has now told us that he wasnt allowed a bank account any more so has been putting his money (wages) into his mothers Bank Account. And has told us the Bank has told him it is alright to do that as his mother has Alzhiemers.? Is this correct???????? My husband is trying to sort out all of there mothers affairs because he has been made a Deputy after applyng for Court of Protection.
The Court has now asked for paper work to prove mother has not savings or assets..so they want to see bank statements.
BIL says mothers money, pension only, is in a Post Office account. And she has no other money?
Can anyone advise us on this matter please.? Many thanks

i would presume the money is also going out of the account as he pays for things, so you don't have to worry that he's built up savings that will affect her ability to get help, Just get him to stop using the account NOW

Agree.....paperwork audit should be called for, either from him and/or the bank.

well POA wasnt done in time so that is why this Court of Protection has had to be done. At the moment MIL can still write and sign the cheques my BIL gives her. No joint account.
He says he cannot get a bank account.?

Hi SandyRoe, I have just looked on Citizens advise website about bank accounts and it does say he could open another bank account....I think that is strange he was told he couldnt? As I thought it was when you are made Bankrupt that you cannot get or have a bank acocunt.? thankyou for your answer I am begining to wonder if we really know the truth of what is going on.?
