i have no problem understanding you TWR. in answer to your question. whatever the punishment ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,is it ever enough ?
DrFilth - Thanks. I did wonder if it was a particular attack.

TWR - I just wonder if you're alright sometimes?
Ummm, I was being ironic. Street robbers who might hurt an older person in the course of a mugging probably wouldn't have the proverbial pot to pee in, never mind designer clothes or the like.
If they have to have pain inflicted on them ,who does it .Its ok to say do this do that but I do not feel I could administer the punishment .So are we saying that should happen but get someone see to do it .if we had to actually put the punishment in to action it would be a lot less lenient .
Sorry, Sandy, I should have realised that.
Is this thread, Lora Norder.....

or Crime and ..... ....... PUNISHMENT ?

someone is gonna suggest Matrons in Leather soon....
Sandy // Ummm, I was being ironic. Street robbers who might hurt an older person in the course of a mugging probably wouldn't have the proverbial pot to pee in, never mind designer clothes or the like.//

too right Sandy - currently as I write, there is a crime prog on
where the mugger finally says - where are your needles do you have any needles ?

showing clearly he didnt have a pot to pee in and needed a fix
I wouldn't want to train a thug to be more more effective at violence. I suppose the idea is that it would "scare them straight", or at least give them half a chance to be shot at?

Still, it's not the way I would choose young persons to protect this country.

Prison should be sufficient.
'' someone is gonna mention matrons in leather soon '',,,,,,,,,,,,,,,really. who ? :)

To remove aggression from a person you train the person, to train the person you need experience, the army have experienced person's to train aggression to go into combat, and that's when aggression is used with training.
Why inflict them on the army? It's not the job of soldiers to sort out low lives.
It doesn't work like that, TWR. My uncle was sent to the army (done for joy riding) he came out more aggressive than he went in. He's 63 and it's only a couple a weeks ago that he punched someone in the pub. (must admit, if you can get him to punch you, you deserve it)
the army encourages violence but tries to channel it against the right people (Iraqis etc). If they succeed in the first bit but fail in the second - because there aren't any Iraqis around, for instance - then everyone's worse off.
I don't think the army encourages violence exactly, they encourage discipline.
Aggressive boys with guns. How will they get their adrenaline fix when the come out?
Disaster idea to put already violent and unpredictable individuals into the army. We have a lot of violence from ex soldiers already the military don't need to be the dumping ground for every pseudo-psychopathic little low-life that we don't know what to do with. Send them to prison, train them to do something sensible, release them and then give them a long community based rehabilitation doing whatever you've trained them for in prison.
So we punish them by seizing their assets and sending them to prison and then reward them with a well paid career and a trade?

The Army spends a lot of time sorting the wheat from the chaff and should not be used as correctional facility!

Calm down, Kvlad..they have been rehabilitated with a 3 year stint in prison first.
I'd like to do the same to them, but I'd probably end up in prison TWR !
