Spiders would no more crawl into a human mouth than compete in the Olympics, they are far too fastidious to go near anything as damp and - to them - unwholsesome.
They may on occasions walk over a sleeping face, but they are simply making their way around the house, as they do - and it has not statistical likelyhood whatsoever.
If a spider landed on or near your mouth during a trip from the cceiling, it would move as quickly as possible, they don't like moisture or breath.
They certainly do nt like drool teag1rl, no need to worry there.
And finally - they do NOT climb up plug holes to get into baths and basins - they wouldn't get past the U-bend which is full of water, and again, it's far too dirty and smelly for them. They fall in during their trips around the house, and can't get out - that's the only reason you find them there.
I was talking to my dad once in his work unit (full of creepy crawlies), and he was watching my face really intently. I thought he was just being weird, so carried on talking. Two minutes later, he just looked at me and said, really calmy, "You've just eaten a spider".
Apparently it had been hanging in my hair and had crawled in the side of my mouth! I didn't even feel it!
I promptly ran to the toilet where I thought I'be sick, I managed to spit it out and it ran down the plughole. Sorry, that's really disgusting, isn't it?
Yes, I know my dad is sick (he's got a very dark sense of humour).
I think you may be getting mixed up with a frequently told urban legend that says we eat x number of spiders in our sleep every night/week/year.
This is of course rubbish, for a start, how would we ever know? This question has been asked before and someone provided a link to refute it. I think this might be the one. http://www.snopes.com/science/stats/spiders.htm
I woke up once in the middle of the night, sat up to look at my sleeping daughter and saw a spider crawl across her face! My God did I scream, my poor husband thought we were being robbed, my daughter was screaming, (she was only 1yr) and I was frantically tearing the sheets off the bed trying to find it. My husband reckoned I'd dreamt it but I was wide awake!
Before I was a twinkle in my Mother's eye, my Mum and Dad had gone away with my Aunt & Uncle. They had gone for a walk and my Auntie laid down sunbathing, suddenly jumped up and said something had crawled in her ear, my Dad didn't believe her and made a joke about it, they got back to the caravan and she was swearing blind there was something in her ear. So to shut her up my Dad tipped water into her ear saying that whatever was in there would come out with the water. After time a trickle of water came out and a small black round thing with it. They all stared at it wondering what on earth it was when it suddenly unravelled it's 8 legs!!! My poor Auntie fainted!
I dont sunbathe!
