Lost Contacts On Ipad Mini

Further to my previous question. BT told me to delete my Yahoo account on the Ipad mini as it kept saying 'not connected to server' and to set up an account with Btinternet which I did with their help. I managed to get my emails this way, but under Settings it just says btinternet in bold, and then Mail, Notes underneath, not Contacts so now I find that I have lost all the contacts in my contacts list, also when I click on the Contacts logo on the main screen of the ipad mini, there are no contacts there. However when I use my laptop and go into bt for my emails, all the contacts are still listed down the left hand side (thank goodness). How do I get my contacts list back in my emails, using Bt as my account, so I can send emails with my ipad mini? I am not technical! Should I try opening a yahoo account instead, and use that as my account on the ipad, and how do I do this? Do I have to open a yahoo account on my laptop first and then use the password on the ipad mini? Thanks in advance.

I have tried this but in my bt account on the ipad, there is no Contacts list to switch on, only Mail and Notes. That would have been easy for me to do !

For various reasons it wouldn't work to open the yahoo account, as all my contacts etc are in bt.

What about iCloud? Can you click on that?

When you go to settings you see on the left hand side mail, contacts, calendar and then notes underneath. On the right hand side tap your Bt account and then underneath make sure your contacts is turned on (green when turned on).
Then try the main screen.

There is no Contacts option on the btinternet screen, only Mail and Notes, both switched to green ... I can click on icloud but cant find an option to merge.

Try this.

Go to contacts on the home screen.
Tap groups top left hand side.
Make sure they are all ticked.
It may work

I have just noticed on my ipad that I have the same on my aol account that it only shows mail & notes. But if I try to send an email it automatically finds my contacts when I type in the first few letters of the email address. No idea why it does this.

Well,sycamore I found that I have the same as you, (after ringing bt four times and Apple, and them passing the buck back to Bt.). So I manually entered all my contacts by typing in the first few letters of the contact's email address, and creating a new contact in my contacts list. Now I have them all back, as luckily I had typed a list of all my contacts. I just went through the list. Hope I explained myself OK here !
