Has just been a guest on Jeremy Kyle celebrity afternoon show. I quite enjoyed the programme, I thought the chat/ interview format with vt clips of his previous life gave Barrymore a platform to speak in a candid manner. I know as a result of what happened on his property a lot of people went off of him, I didn't and while I think he has made some cracking mistakes in his time, it has never been proved that he is any way responsible for the chaps death.
I hope Barrymore finds some peace , I shall await the braying mob !!
Anyone else see it ?

I agree with you flump. He didn't murder or rape anyone and was cleared. I think he's paid the price for that party at his home time and time again. I loved him in his glory days, and always cried with laughter at his shows. He'll never regain any of that now, but I, for one, always wish him well. Yes, I watched him on JK.
I didn't see the programme (can't stand Kyle), but I always enjoyed watching Michael Barrymore. I saw him "live" a couple of times, probably thirty years ago, and HE WAS HILARIOUS. I'll watch it later on catch up.
Didn't see the show. But I too think it's a great shame what happened. He had such a good career ahead of him. I'd like to think there was a massive cover-up, because of big-wigs at his house and we'll probably never know the full truth of what went on.
Can you tell me which tv channel please so that I may get the chance to watch the programme on catch-up?

Hi Cupid , it was on ITV at 2 this afternoon.
Thank you. I'll watch it later.
I went to see him years ago and he was brilliant.
You can catch the end of it on channel 33 now, if you want.
we wish him well.agree with viv38
I totally agree that I don't think he was to blame for that mans death, but having seen him out in London in his heyday, I think he was an obnoxious & rude man with a "don't you know who I am" attitude.
I didn't watch and the idea of it being on Kyle leaves a bit of a poor taste in thd mouth although I can't say why; naybe because of the calibre of Kyle's shows and perhaps this is something to be discussed on a more newsy type program. Probably I'm being a snob.

As to Barrymore himself, I never found him particularly funnh or entertaining so from that perspective, I can't really say I've missed him on our screens.
I agree flump. I thought it was a very sensitive interview and has confirmed my opinion that when necessary, JK is a very good interviewer. I don't watch his shows because of the people he has on there who wind me up, but I used to listen to his radio show every night and thoroughly enjoyed it.

As for Michael, I used to love him and I hope he manages to get back on the TV as he was a brilliant entertainer.
I watched the interview last night and was very moved by it. It's so sad. I really wish him well and hope he continues to stay off the drink and drugs that were destroying him.
The party was at MB's home yet he could offer NO explanation as to how the young man drowned in MBs swimming pool. Was MB so off his head that he didnt know what happened in his own home? I cant excuse MB and he shouldn't get air time.

No MB property missing or home not trashed.....just one drowned man - life aint cheap for me!
When MB first appeared on tv I thought he was a funny, warm man. As time went by my opinion changed - he started to humiliate the guests on his show with his physical and verbal antics.

Here's one example:

I don't want to see him on tv again, but if he is, I won't be watching
His interview with Georgie Ellis was car crash tv and should never have been aired.
It depends how big his house was tambo- quite possible for that to happen without his knowledge, although you would think one or more of the guests would know. Drink, drugs and swimming are obviously not going to be a good combination.
I liked him at first, but thought he became a bit arrogant. I didn't think he deserved to lose everything though. I might watch the interview in catch-up too.
The person he humiliated the most was his ever caring wife, and his actions were inexcusable - i don't care if he never appears on the screen again - he is a "has been".
